Yep, it's me again.
How that Valentine's has passed by, now it's St Patrick's Day time. Oh wait, that's right, it's not, it's Easter time, because animatronic companies don't really make st Patrick's items anymore. Why though? Why was St. Patrick's left out? And this goes for all animatronic companies. Gemmy, DanDeeDanDee, Sound N Light, all of them. Nobody can make a simple dancing leprechaun, or singing clover or something? WHY?
DanDee made a dancing leprechaun at Wal-Mart last year. To my knowledge, it sold well, so I hope it's available again this year. But that's it! Nothing else animated for St Patrick's Day. I guess it's because there's not a wide variety of characters associated with the day. Leprechauns and four lead clovers are the only things you immediately think of when you think st Patrick's day right? Well that's wrong. Valentine's doesn't openly have a lot of characters associated with it. Cupid, of course, but that's about it. So, companies have to improvise: they make dancing dogs, cats, dinosaurs, anything! Just slap a heart on it and it's a Valentine's item. They can well do the same thing for st Patrick's day,just take a bear or dog and put a green bay on him and call it a day. It's really simple actually. But no. they don't do that. They just skip it entirely.
It could also be because now, Patrick's day is an increasingly unpopular holiday. Not much merchandise at all comes out for it anymore as compared to Valentine's and easter. Because of this, I suppose companies must skip it altogether and go straight to easter, fearing that st Patrick's items won't make a lot of money for them. What a shame.
It's not just St Patrick's either. The 4th of July and thanksgiving don't really offer a lot of animatronic items at all either. We saw a few DanDee patriotic items last year, but they were kind of 'throw things at the wall and see what stock's items to be honest. They could have been done better. And the songs were just sad, not patriotic at all. Macarena is far from an American patriotic song to me.
And in thanksgivings case, we got a gemm y sidestepping Turkey at Publix last year but that was about it. Also, Song choice sucked on that too.
So hopefully this year we'll see some good items for not only St Patricks, but independence day and thanksgiving as well. Hopefully, DanDee brings back that dancing leprechaun, or maybe, just maybe, we may even get surprised, and Gemmy will come out with a St Patrick's item!
Though I doubt it highly.
