Shaking/Shrieking Grim Reaper

The Shaking Grim Reaper, also known as the Shrieking Grim Reaper or Shaking Spirit Reaper is an animated hanging decoration made from 1993-1997, remade in 2001-2002, and again in the Shaking Spirits series from 2008-2012. When activated by sound, The Reaper shakes and says a phrase or makes spooky noises while the eyes flash red.

Variants[]

Early 1993 model: says ‘Happy Halloween’ and laughs twice. This particular model is slightly bigger than later ones. Retailed under the name ‘Animated Grim Reaper’

1993-1997 model: says the same ‘Happy Halloween’ phrase as the early model, except the pitch is significantly lower. Some later ones also have a screw on the battery cover instead of a latch. Retailed under the name ‘Shrieking Grim Reaper’ or sometimes ‘Moaning Grim Reaper’

1993-1994 eerie model: makes the same eerie noise as the ‘Shrieking Spider’ and ‘Shrieking Bat’. Retailed under the name ‘Eerie Grim Reaper’.

2001-2002 remake model: same thing as the version mentioned above, except has a screw on the battery cover instead of a latch. Retailed under the name ‘Animated Grim Reaper’ or sometimes ‘Shrieking Ghost’.

2001 swaying model: instead of hanging, this version includes a pair of weighted plastic shoes, and a pole. It sways and has flashing red eyes. It also has the stock ‘evil laughter’ soundtrack. Retailed under the name ‘Animated Shrieking Ghost’.

2008-2012 shaking spirit model: has the same moaning soundtrack as the ‘Floating Ghost’ and some others from the ‘Floating Ghouls’ series. The eyes also stay lit through the entire activation. Retailed under the name ‘Floating Grim Reaper’ in 2008, and ‘Shaking Spirit’ in 2009-2012.

2010-2012 white shaking spirit model: same as the one mentioned above, except has white cloth instead of black. The eyes are also painted black instead of reddish-brown. Retailed under the name ‘Shaking Spirit’.

2013 strobing model: same as the one mentioned above, except doesn’t shake. It has flashing lights inside the head and stays lit when not activated. This particular model was distributed by Sunstar Industries. Retailed under the name ‘Strobing Skeleton’.

Trivia[]

This item goes by a few different names depending on the year and retailer. These names include "Eerie Grim Reaper" "Moaning Grim Reaper" "Shrieking Grim Reaper" or just simply "Grim Reaper"
A knockoff was made by an unknown company sometime within the last three years. It is unknown if it was ever released, considering it’s an obvious knockoff.
