Gemmy Wiki

The Life Size Sarah the Sassy Witch was an animated Halloween decoration made in 2013 to 2015. There were two different variations made, which are described below. The three unreleased prototypes that are currently known are described and shown in the Trivia and Gallery sections.

2013/2015 Model[]

The first version resembled a younger witch wearing a black and purple dress with a spiderweb design, colorful green, black, orange skirt with long black and white streaked hair. When activated, her eyes glow red, the lights in her dress flash, and her head turns as she speaks spooky phrases. Additionally, there are lights in the broom and hat which continuously light up during the activation.

2014 Model[]

The 2014 version of Sarah is quite different compared to the previous version. The color scheme of the dress is black and pink. With a blue, and pink skirt and she is standing behind a cauldron. She also only has one section of white hair instead of many like the 2013 & 2015 model. When activated her eyes glow red, the lights in her dress flash, and her head turns as she speaks spooky phrases. Additionally, the cauldron stirs as she speaks, lights up, and produces mist once water is added.

Phrases[]

  • "Aaaahhh! Yet another creature of the night approaches."
  • "Have you come for a treat or a trick! Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo"
  • "Dahahahahaha! Sorry. Halloween just brings out the ghoul in me. Heh hehehe hoo!"
  • "Welcome to my home my little victim. Uh I mean my little friend. Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!"
  • "There's something spooky out tonight and I think it's you. Hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!"

Trivia[]

  • The 2013/2015 Sassy Witch share the same hand mold as the Life Size Midnight Countess.
  • The 2013 version is the only Sassy Witch to have mostly straight hair. The others have very curly hair. You can see this reflected in the stock photos of the produced versions.
  • Interestingly looking at Gemmy's website from 2013 it says the original version was also available on the HomeShoppingNetwork.
  • The 2013 version was reproduced in 2015 by Sunstar Industries. This version was almost identical to the original 2013 model, but more white hair was added to it.
    • The one released in 2013 has many black and white sections of hair that almost look gray.
    • The 2015 rereleased also shares the same curly hair as the 2014 version and other prototypes.
  • There are 2 different stock photos of the 2013 Sassy Witch one has no lights present in the hat and the other does.
    • Going off of that information the lights in the hat may have been a last minute addition.
  • The 2013 version is the only version with a veil on the hat. The fabric on this veil has been used on many many other Gemmy Lifesize witches.
  • All of the phrases are re-recorded from the Dr. Shivers & Grim Reaper Monster Munchies.
    • The phrase "Sorry. Halloween just brings out the ghoul in me." that was previously used on the Monster Munchies Dr. Shivers, and Grim Reaper was the first time that phrase was used on a lifesize prop.
  • The 2014 version also has a few differences in the first stock photo. That stock photo shows the witch with a hat that looks to be posable. The produced version's hat is not.
  • Both the 2013 and 2014 versions are known to be faulty
  • When videos of the 2013 model were released people speculated that it was a prototype since a bubbling sound can be heard in the audio.
  • Sarah The Sassy Witch is actually not this witch's given name. On the boxes from both produced versions it's called Life-Size Animated Witch. The price tags that were on the display models at Lowes read "Sarah the Sassy Witch," and that name stuck.
  • The background music is the same background music that was used in the Original Life Size Cauldron Witch (2006) set up video.
  • There is an animated Witch Wobbler hand prototype from and unknown year that uses Sarah's phrases, but without the background music.
  • The Sarah the Sassy Witch prototype pictured below was supposedly going to be released in 2015. It was scrapped because of low interest. It has a combined structure of old and new parts. It has the upper torso of the modern Gemmy female lifesizes and the Life Size Witch with Tray. It has a battery pack on the module but there is nothing in the compartment. Her head is a 2013 model's head and is hand painted in a different style with a much harsher green and more apparent makeup, and black hand painted nails. She also has a different outfit with dark purple, black, and long sleeves with this beautiful floral lace. The skirt has black, purple, and indigo netting. She does not have any blinking lights in the dress. Supposedly because of cost issues or it wouldn't have worked well with the long sleeves.
    • The 2015 prototype probably would have been sold at Lowes for that season and at the same price as the 2014 model at $149
    • The "Hunchback" Sassy Witch and the version with the purple dress are thought to be amalgamations of parts and pieces found at the Castle.
      • The hunchback is thought to be some sort of Medusa prototype with the wrong head.
  • The 2015 Sassy Witch prototype has different cauldron animation, only moving in one direction. The head also appears to move in one direction as well.
    • This could be due to wiring not being connected to the right thing. Which is not uncommon for prototypes.
      • There were several different versions of her made. This is made clear by the different heads seen in photos.
        • The main difference seems to be the thickness of the strands of white hair.
      • There are 3 known prototype heads with the same different paint style.
        • These could be from three different stages of one prototype, or 3 separate prototypes.
  • The "hunchback" version is likely not a true prototype. Just an altered Medusa lifesize.
  • The other unreleased prototype is an unconfirmed prototype. Might be customized.
  • There is a prototype Witch Bust very similar to the Animated Witch Bust from 2023 that was planned to be released that year with the Sassy Witch Audio.
